Search is on for UK’s greenest business
The search is on to find the UK’s greenest businesses, as a long- running environmental award scheme urges food and drink companies taking action on sustainability to make themselves known.
Now in its 35th year, the Business Commitment to the Environment (BCE) Environmental Leadership Awards scheme is calling on companies to apply for its 2011 awards before the entry deadline of October 11 2010.
“The BCE Awards showcase innovative environmental projects carried out by businesses that demonstrate excellence and leadership,” says BCE Awards president Sir Anthony Cleaver. “The calibre of our previous winning projects shows that businesses are making a real difference to their impact on the environment, while often reaping significant commercial benefits.
“We’re therefore urging companies to put themselves forward this year so they too get the chance to win the recognition offered by our prestigious awards.”
Free to enter, categories include awards for products, processes, SMEs and management for resource efficiency. And new for 2011 is the Engagement Premier award which will recognise excellent communications on environmental issues both internally and externally to customers, the supply chain and other stakeholders.
All entries are assessed on leadership and commitment, innovation and a demonstration of real environmental benefits. Previous high-profile winners including Kingfisher, Innocent Drinks, Asda, Marks & Spencer and the Co-operative Group.
