Robinsons and Tango maker Britvic has this week announced its third-quarter trading perfomance and said, despite weakening consumer spending, the soft drinks market performed in line with expectations – until feeling the impact of below average weather.

As a result, the markets in both GB and Ireland have contracted sharply in both volume and value in the last four weeks.

Revenues were up 0.7% on a year ago in its home market between April and July, but down on the previous six months.

“During the third quarter, the soft drinks markets in GB and Ireland were adversely affected by the poor weather in June,” says chief executive Paul Moody. “Nevertheless, Britvic delivered revenue growth across the GB, International and France business units, although France showed a decline.

“We continue to be cautious about the challenging trading conditions and the impact of conumers sentiment in our largets markets as we move into the final quarter of the financial year.”
