Pies all round

I trust everyone enjoyed his or her Christmas festivities. It’s just a quick one from me this week in between de-Christmasing and gearing up for the next round of fun on New Year’s Eve.

I’m sure by now we’ve all consumed enough Brussels sprouts and roast turkey to keep us going over the festive period, but what about the other foods that we see at Christmas? In my house, the cheese board is a big hit every year, and we always get through several tubes of Pringles.

According to a recent survey from Pork Farms, pork pies are another Christmas favourite in the UK, with more than 60 per cent of adults set to tuck into a pork pie over Christmas.

The findings also show that consumers in the North West are the most likely to be enjoying pork pies at Christmas time. In addition, they prefer a simple unadulterated pork pie, whilst Londoners enjoy theirs alongside a fruity chutney.

Kim Burgess, head of markets at Addo Food Group, says, “Christmas time is an ideal opportunity to enjoy quality time together as a family and great food always plays a central part in any get together.

“As the traditional pork pie is set to be enjoyed by the majority of UK consumers this year, we have made sure that all at Pork Farms are ready for the festive pork pie stampede.”
