Safety first

I was delighted to have been invited by Arco to celebrate its signing of an agreement with AEG Europe to become the official safety equipment partner of The O2 and Up at The O2, the iconic London, UK venue that attracts nine million visitors each year from around the globe.
UK safety company Arco distributes branded and own brand products, including personal protective equipment, clothing, footwear, gloves, work place safety and hygiene products in order to make work environments safer places – the food industry is just one of its many areas of expertise.
To celebrate the new partnership, I was one of the lucky few invited to experience Up at The O2, a 90-minute climb over the roof of The O2 with 360-degree panoramic views across the capital. We were kept safe with a specially designed Arco safety harness, shoes and clothing and reached the summit on a slightly cloudy but still very memorable day.
At the launch of the partnership, Thomas Martin, Arco’s joint managing director, said, “AEG’s mission is to give the world reason to cheer, and our reason for being is in helping people stay safe so that they can live life to the full and go home to their families at the end of the day. Our two company missions come together perfectly at Up at The O2.
“We’ve been in the safety business for over 130 years and our partnership with AEG at The O2 and Up at The O2 gives us a platform to engage with a wider audience and demonstrate our heritage and true expertise in all aspects of safety. We have the opportunity to demonstrate our capability in designing a range of bespoke safety products that will ensure everyone visiting or working at The O2 has a safe and enjoyable experience.”
