Pladis reveals limited-edition Jaffa Cakes

Pladis has announced a new variant to its Jaffa Cakes range, Jaffa Cakes Lemon and Lime.

Available on a limited 12-month run, the new flavoured Jaffa Cakes will be sold in single packs only, with an RISP of £0.99 for grocery and PMP of £1.00 for convenience.

Embracing the current trend for new flavour twists on favourite products, pladis is seeking to attract a younger audience with this launch. Jaffa Cakes Lemon and Lime is currently being rolled out across the UK as an expansion of the Jaffa Cakes brand in the sweet biscuits category.

The launch will be supported with television advertising for the Jaffa Cakes brand; entitled ‘The First Day’, the commercial depicts a young woman embarking on her first day of work – with Jaffa Cakes helping her to break the ice with colleagues. This advert forms part of McVitie’s recently launched ‘Sweeter Together’ master brand campaign.

Emma Stowers, McVitie’s brand director, comments, “Recent research conducted by McVitie’s showed that 92% of the nation call themselves Jaffa Cakes fans. With the addition of Jaffa Cakes Lemon and Lime to the product range, we hope to both reward loyal fans of classic orange Jaffa Cakes with a new flavour to enjoy, and entice a growing, younger audience.

“Insight suggests that launching new flavours of a well-known product appeals to younger shoppers. Jaffa Cakes Lemon and Lime fits that bill perfectly – a delicious combination of dark crackly chocolate and a lemon and lime flavoured centre, which will deliver a zingy delight to a new generation of Jaffa Cakes enthusiasts.”
