Sensus research has revealed that inulin can replace sucrose in food recipes, providing new opportunities for food manufacturers to create tasty, healthy products that consumers demand.

Based on a survey of more than 800 UK consumers, Sensus discovered that the demand for healthy, good-tasting food is on the rise and that consumers are willing to pay a premium for it. A growing number of consumers are health conscious and increasingly seeking healthy food products, with today’s – namely younger – consumers paying more attention to food packaging to determine ingredients and caloric levels.

These same consumers are interested in food products containing inulin, a soluble dietary fibre that provides a strong and healthy alternative to sucrose as a sweetener. By incorporating inulin into their food recipes, manufacturers can produce healthy, good tasting food products with no added sugars, fewer calories and high levels of dietary fibres.

Sensus is a supplier of chicory root fibre under the Frutafit and Frutalose brand names.
