Setting the meatballs rolling

A new Carnitech line is to be installed at one of Scotland’s premier food processors, following an announcement that Baxters is to introduce a new meatball preparation system.

The announcement follows several months of consultation between Baxters, Carnitech and the Interfood Group, Carnitech’s representative in the UK and Ireland.

This capital investment is part of Baxters’ ongoing revitalisation of the Fray Bentos name, best known for its range of canned pies, in both the UK and international markets.

At the heart of the new meatball line will be a Carnitech 280mm Combigrinder, one of a new generation of Carnitech machines developed with ‘a renewed focus on hygiene, throughput, product quality, safety and energy efficiency’.

From the combigrinder, the meat will be transferred automatically into a Carnitech 3,000-litre mixer/grinder where water and further dry ingredients will be added to Baxters’ own recipe. The line will be capable of producing in excess of four tons of meatballs per hour.

“I am delighted to be working with Carnitech again,” says John Campbell, MD of Baxters. “ Their attention to detail will be a real asset to us in our meatball production.”
