Health and wellness still dominate flavour trends

A series of recent reports on flavour trends in several key markets across the globe has seen many of the same market drivers influencing the development of new flavours, according to Euromonitor.

“Health and wellness, and flavour innovation are now going hand in hand as companies strive to develop great-tasting, healthy products, explains the analyst’s head of global food research, John Madden. “Companies are introducing flavours that give their products a healthier appeal, such as citrus fruits and natural herbs. But they’re also carrying out research to create functional flavours such as salt replacers.”

Also, as consumers seek a healthier lifestyle and respite from their hectic lives, a trend that started in Japan has now moved to North America, with soft drinks companies introducing relaxation drinks to meet these new demands.”
