BV Dairy moves into contract packaging

UK manufacturer of specialist dairy products BV Dairy has begun contract packaging after signing a new long term contract to produce bottled kefir cultured milk drinks.

The company, which is based in Blackmore Vale, UK will produce four million bottled yogurt drinks and kefir a year using its new Filmatic bottling line, which has the capacity to bottle 16.2 million drinks a year.

It is hoped that the expansion into cultured milk drink production will facilitate further growth for the business, which has recently built and equipped a new 13,860 sq ft chill store, including a new refrigeration system and 220 KW of solar PV panels.

Harry Cowan, commercial director at BV Dairy, says, “This new contract underpins BV Dairy’s expertise in this area and our intention is to use our skills, knowledge and experience in new product development – while maximising available production capacity – to work with a few select and like-minded companies to bring new, exciting and innovative products to market.

“Our move into contract packaging follows extensive market research, which shows an increasing appetite for cultured drinking products that have associated health benefits.”
