Tate & Lyle ingredient shortlisted for Gulfood awards
Tate & Lyle has announced that one of its ingredients, Promitor Soluble Fibre, is one of three shortlisted products in the ‘Innovative Health Ingredients’ category of the Gulfood Manufacturing Industry Excellence Awards.
Promitor Soluble Fibre is used by food and drink manufacturers to reduce sugar and boost fibre content in products. It provides health benefits including increasing daily fibre intake, supporting gastrointestinal health, maintaining healthy blood glucose and enhancing calcium absorption, important for bone health, all without affecting the taste of the product.
Commenting on the shortlisting, Kevin Armstrong, health & wellness product manager Europe, Middle East and Africa, Tate & Lyle, said: “Since launch, Tate & Lyle’s Promitor Soluble Fibre has enabled hundreds of food and drinks brands to develop winning products with less sugar and added health benefits, and we’re delighted it continues to be recognised as a standout ingredient. Consumer demand for great tasting, fibre-enriched products shows no sign of abating, with more than half of consumers in the Middle East wanting more fibre and less sugar in their diet.”
Dr Ieva Laurie, principle scientist Europe, Middle East and Africa, Tate & Lyle, added: “Average fibre intakes in Europe, the Middle East and some regions of Africa are below recommended levels and this is a key public health concern. By enriching foods and beverages with fibre, manufacturers are making a real difference to consumer diets, and we are proud to support this work through our portfolio of soluble fibres and application expertise.”
