One-stop-shop for environmental advice

A major national event to be held in February 2008 is set to show food and drink businesses the benefits of improving their environmental performance – and how to secure valuable cost savings as a result.

Hosted by sustainable business experts Enviro-wise, the Food Environmental Efficiency Day (FEED) will provide firms in the food, drink and hospitality sectors with free advice to improve resource use in priority areas such as packaging, water and energy efficiency.

There will be a range of activities taking place on the day including presentations by industry stakeholders, interactive workshops and ‘drop-in’ clinics, allowing businesses to access confidential, one-to-one guidance with an Envirowise advisor.

Clare Campbell, Envirowise food and drink sector specialist, said,“With environmental issues continuing to attract high levels of public interest, businesses can achieve real commercial benefits by addressing their use of resources. FEED will provide delegates with practical advice from a range of industry experts all under one roof.

The event will feature guest speakers including the Food and Drink Federation. David Bellamy, Sustainability Manager for the FDF commented,“We are pleased to be collaborating with Envirowise on this event and encourage the sector to take advantage of the free help on offer. Environmental issues continue to rise up the agenda and there is still much to gain from improving performance in this area.

“Following the runaway success of FEED 2006, businesses are urged to register early to ensure they don’t miss this exciting opportunity, added Clare Campbell.
FEED was previously held in 2006 – an event which saw hundreds of businesses taking advantage of the free help on offer.

The Food Environmental Efficiency Day will take place on 5th February 2008, at the East Midlands Conference Centre. Businesses can book their place now by logging on to www.envirowise.gov.uk/feed
