Launch of artisan Fairtrade coffee brand

Shahid Mehdi, founder of The Real Basmati Rice Co., has now cofounded The Real Coffee Bean Co.

The Fairtrade organisation works with farmers from small holding farms as well as co-operatives, using manual labour methods, as opposed to machinery, to harvest the coffee beans. As a result, more jobs are created in the local community. Once harvested, the coffee beans are sun dried in order to bring out the natural flavour of the bean.

Mehdi comments, “Like with our rice, our new Fairtrade coffee business is centered around sustainability, obsessive care, dedication and passion.

“We are proud to introduce three flavours of coffee: Brazilian, Colombian and our own House Blend which brings you the best of Brazil, with Central America and Ethiopia (Sidamo) added to the mix.”

More coffees will be added to the range in due course. RRP £5.75 for a 200g ground bag. 1kg trade sized bags of whole coffee beans are also available. All packaging is 100% recyclable.
