Alternative to sleeves for cup packaging
Greiner Packaging International has developed an alternative to sleeves for special shaped cup packaging in the form of K3 D. K3 stands for Karton-Kunstoff-Kombinationen (cardboard-plastic combinations) and the D stands for the deformability of the cardboard wrap.
The new technology makes it possible to deform a cardboard wrap in the third dimension to decorate a cup shape with diameters between 68-75mm.
“K3 D provides much more latitude in decorating cup packaging. This will benefit our customers in the dairy industry in particular, because they will be able to stage-manage their products to perfection at the Point of Sale,” says Kenneth Boldog, head of division K at Greiner Packaging International.
The carton wraps can be imprinted on both sides with up to six colours. The inner side of the carton wrap is often used for marketing and communications or additional product information.
A large portion of the packaging is renewable raw material or recycled cardboard.
